"What do want to talk about? What do you long for? What do you like? Well, ribbons and Bows, that's two things."
The 'Diem Project' is my take on Progressive Electronica.
It isn't my music if it isn't progressive. This project aims to explore new territories into the world of electronic music, blending cutting edge sample technology with the rudimentary world of early soundfonts and basic synthesis– the sorts of tones typically found in retro video games. Sounds flow between acoustic and artificial–rudimentary and new– playable and utterly unfeasible, all in service of achieving a 'bouquet of sound', my primary musical signature. In this medium, anything is sonically possible; the only limit is one's audaciousness.
Sampling technology has reached a point to where midi can imitate real instruments with perfect accuracy– but can it truly imitate the imperfections of human players?
Soundfonts are a largely obsolete relic, unable to compete with the accuracy of modern solutions– but can these sounds stand on their own, freed from their intended approximation?

Ribbonbow
Aug. 2024
Ribbonbow is my first widely released album. It follows a general theme of longing and reflection, set to an eclectic mix of whimsical pop-fusion melodies and grandiose progressive pop notes, unified by a sound signature that mixes and layers typical instrumental signatures with video game sound fonts and unorthodox samples. "Airport" bounces with life with it's unbalanced triplet bass line, while "Dreamscape" and "Contrail" present symphonic soundscapes that are equal parts intricate and weird. Breezy surf rock influences can be heard in "Dana", while "Living on a Feeling" features NoisyTJR on Alto Sax, closing the album with a conversation between saxophones.
