Loma

Loma is the second work for Wind Ensemble I've ever concieved, being written shortly after the first drafts of the Dreaming Girl Suite and before its subsequent revisions. It was an application of Eric Whitacre's Beautiful Mess series, which became a topic of discussion within our music theory classroom in high school.

The piece details the rising and the falling of the sun over Cabrillo Point, a picturesque isolated cape in the Point Loma region of San Diego. This piece marked the beginnings of what would become my creative process moving forward: concept sketches on a blank sheet of paper followed by sketches on the staff.
